Music's biggest night will soon kick off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 26, and with stars like Madonna, Lorde, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and Jay Z performing, it's sure to be an amazing show!

Hosted by LL Cool J for the third time, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake are among the big nominees for the night.

21 die as boat capsizes in India

At least 21 people including tourists are feared dead after a boat capsized near islands in India’s Andaman Sea, Skynews reports.

The boat was carrying 43 people when it sank between Ross Island and North Bay near Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Some 13 survivors were pulled from the water after a search and rescue operation was launched.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed his shock and said he was sad for the loss of life.

A police spokesman said initial reports suggested the boat sank after it developed a crack in its hull.

The tourists on board were all from India, he said.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are more than 600 miles (1,000km) from the Indian mainland and are flanked by the Andaman Sea to the east and the Bay of Bengal to the west.

Official: U.S. airstrike in Somalia targets suspected militant leader

The U.S. military conducted an airstrike in southern Somalia on Sunday against a suspected militant leader, a U.S. military official told CNN.

The target was described by the official as a "senior leader" affiliated with al Qaeda and Al-Shabaab, al Qaeda's affiliate in Somalia.

Confusion as woman accuses driver of ritual killing

Saturday PUNCH learnt that for the first time, the President openly condemned the party chairman’s administrative style at a stormy meeting with Tukur and other members of the PDP National Working Committee at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday night.

U.S.-Mexico border : Woman caught sneaking into U.S. in suitcase

Customs and Border Protection officers foiled a smuggling attempt at the U.S.-Mexico border when they discovered a woman contorted and hidden inside a suitcase.
Officials released a photo this week showing the woman tucked into a ball and laying inside the luggage in the back of a vehicle.
The woman, a Thai national named Pornkamol Mongkolsermsak, was charged with re-entry after deportation, CBP spokesman Victor Brabble said.
She was discovered on December 30, when inspectors at the border referred the driver of a Honda SUV for a secondary inspection, CBP said in a statement.
When officers inspected the vehicle, they opened up the suitcase and found the 48-year-old woman hidden underneath some clothing.
Authorities did not release the name of the 56-year-old Phoenix man who was driving the SUV.
The case has been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, CBP said.

Police rearrest pastor for raping 12-year-old

The Lagos State Police Command has rearrested a 40-year-old pastor, Alasco Sobowale, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Epe area of the state.

Police authorities said the suspect, who is a pastor at Okiki Imole Church, Epe, was rearrested on Thursday at his home located at 10, Togodo Street, Temu Town.

Man’s stomach ripped open during fight over woman

Doctors at the Lagos Island General Hospital are battling to save the life of a 34-year-old man, identified only as Owuye, whose stomach was ripped open on New Year’s Eve.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim and an elderly man, identified simply as Baba, were involved in a fight over a married woman.
Our correspondent, who visited Tafawa Balewa Square, where the incident took place, learnt that Owuye’s intestines popped out, causing him to lose a lot of blood.
