Nairobi mall attack: Obama says US stands with Kenya




US President Barack Obama has offered his condolences to Kenya's president and its people, after suspected al-Shabab militants stormed a Nairobi mall killing at least 62 people.
Mr Obama said: "We stand with them against this terrible outrage that has occurred. We will provide them with whatever law enforcement support is necessary."
Kenyan security forces have said that they are in the final stages of clearing the Westgate shopping complex, as they attempt to bring an end to a three-day siege.

Jonathan to Seek US Assistance in Fight Against Terrorism

Condemns Kenyan  killings
President Goodluck Jonathan has said that he will seek the assistance of the US President, Mr Barack Obama,   in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
Jonathan who left Nigeria Saturday for a United Nation’s  Summit in New York is billed to meet President Barack Obama this week.
The President also condemned the killings of scores of people in shopping Mall at  Nairobi, Kenya.

IN an apparent bid to fend off some of the frequent criticisms aimed at him over his administration’s seemingly tolerant disposition towards corruption, President Goodluck Jonathan recently tried to turn the tables against Nigerians, blaming them for the failure of the anti-graft war. Launching his offensive at the 54th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Economic Society in Abuja last week, the President said that corruption had continued to thrive in the country mainly because his fellow citizens tended to “reward corrupt practices.”

This weekend, a photo of a light skinned lady, alleged to be Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, fighting with another lady in public was posted on twitter suggesting that the actress was fighting over a man outside of a nightclub in Lagos. The message on twitter mentioned several Nollywood actors including Tonto herself but the actress didn’t respond to the allegations.

Family of 5 found dead inside Texas home

A family of 5 was found dead inside a residence outside Rice, Texas on Sunday night, authorities said.

Navarro County Sheriff's Deputies found bodies of 2 adults and 3 children inside.

"We are concentrating on the investigation inside the residence and we do not have reason to believe there are any other suspects at this time." Sheriff Elmer Tanner said. He would not say if the incident was a murder-suicide, or how the residents died.

Tanner added that deputies have responded to the home at least four previous times.

(The sheriff's office said it will release more information at 10 a.m. ET Monday.
