Lady Gaga To Perform At First YouTube Music Awards

SAN BRUNO (CBS SF/AP) – YouTube is launching its own music awards and Lady Gaga will perform at the first-time event.

The Google Inc.-owned, San Bruno-based company announced Tuesday that Eminem and Arcade Fire will also perform at the YouTube Music Awards on November 3. The awards will be presented at Pier 36 in New York City and will stream live online.

The announcement said the awards show will honor “artists and songs that YouTube fans have turned into global hits over the past year.”

Actor Jason Schwartzman will host the YouTube Music Awards. A press release said the awards show will also feature events from Seoul, South Korea; Moscow; London; and Brazil.

Son of the late former Ondo State Governor, Feyi Agagu, has said that he is alright and no one should worry about his state.

Feyi spoke when his friends, led by Jide Obanikoro, the son of a former Nigeria’s ambassador to Ghana, Musiliu Obanikoro, visited him at the Surgical Emergency ward of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he and other victims of the Associated Airline plane crash were rushed to on Thursday.

Members of the family of the former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu, have insisted that they will go ahead with the arrangements for his interment despite the plane crash on Thursday.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, made this known on Thursday in Akure just as a member of the Agagu family, Chief Sehindemi Oguntoye, said the community had premonition that a tragedy would occur before the burial of the former governor.

California To Grant Driver's Licenses To Illegal Immigrants

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a bill adding California to a growing list of states that will grant driver's licenses to immigrants in the country illegally.

Brown signed the legislation at a Los Angeles City Hall ceremony Thursday morning.

Immigrant advocates have long lobbied for the change in California so immigrants in the country illegally can drive without fear of being pulled over for a ticket, which could wind up getting them deported.

The new licenses will not be considered valid federal identification and will be marked differently from other licenses.

The licenses are expected to be issued starting Jan. 1, 2015.

Breaking News - At least 11 dead after passenger plane crashes near Nigeria airport

At least 11 people were killed Thursday when a passenger plane crashed near an airport in Nigeria's largest city, authorities said.

The Nigeria National Emergency Management Agency said that the aircraft crashed after taking off from Lagos. It had been bound for the city of Akure, about 170 miles away. At least 11 people were confirmed dead and at least one passenger survived the crash, the agency said.
