Power Outage At Murtala Muhammed International Airport In Lagos Paralyzes Flight Operations

Twice tonight the entire Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos suffered massive power outages leading to disruptions in flight operations at the airport. The power outagest happened twice according to a journalist, Ahmed Salkida, who witnessed the blackout.

The first blackout which happened at 7:45pm lasted for two minutes. A second one, which is still ongoing, started at 8:06 PM.

Salkida, who a passenger on a Dubai bound Emirates flight said the boarding is currently going on in complete darkness as the airliner deploys torchlight to assist customers to get on board.

4 Marines killed at Camp Pendleton during range maintenance operation

Four Marines were killed Wednesday during a range maintenance operation at Camp Pendleton in California, the military said.

The incident was the deadliest for Pendleton since seven Marines were killed in a February 2012 midair collision between helicopters along the Arizona-California border, said a military spokesman. Six of them were based at Camp Pendleton, California, and the other was from Yuma, Arizona, the Marines said then.
