Plateau Speaker Escapes Impeachment, Plans to Resign Next Week

Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. John Clark Dabwan, Friday narrowly escaped impeachment by his colleagues in the House, who said they have lost confidence in his poor and colourless leadership style.
The 18 out of the 24 lawmakers had signed for his impeachment and had gathered in closed door meeting to proceed with his removal when the Speaker got a wind of it and hurried to join them.

He then pleaded with them to rather allow him to resign honourably by Tuesday next week when the House is expected to reconvene. He was thereafter warned by members to ensure that the House receives his letter of resignation latest by then.
