President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday relieved two of his Special Advisers of their appointments with immediate effect.
They are, his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters, Mrs. Joy Emordi; and that of New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Dr. Tunji Olagunju.
A statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said Jonathan commended Emordi and Olagunju for their services and wished them success in their future endeavours.
No reason has been given for the sackings. When contacted, Emordi expressed gratitude to the President for an opportunity to serve him and by extension the nation.
She said, “It was an honour and rare privilege to serve Mr. President and my nation in the capacity I served. I am also grateful to God and my family for the support they gave me throughout the period.”

Confusion in Abuja as SSS raided an alleged Boko Haram hideout

A rescue team carrying a victim killed during a shooting incident in an uncompleted building in Apo Zone E, Abuja....on Friday.

There was confusion in Abuja on Friday as operatives of the State Security Service raided a building in Apo Quarters, killing eight people.
Though the SSS claimed that those killed were members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, eyewitnesses and survivors denied the security agents’ claim.
Survivors alleged that the attack was masterminded by the owner of the of the building that was raided,  who they said had strong connections in government, adding that it was done to force them out of the premises.
Earlier, the Deputy Director, SSS, Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar,  had in a statement claimed that the victims were gunmen who engaged the SSS operatives in a gun battle.
The SSS spokeswoman  said the security operatives were attacked by the sympathisers of the sect when they went to a building on Soji Aderemi Close, off Bamanga Tukur Street, Apo Quarters,  to exhume weapons  buried in an uncompleted building  by people suspected to be members of the Islamic sect.
She further stated that the attack was sequel to information obtained from two Boko Haram elements, Kamal Abdullahi and Mohammed Adamu, who had earlier been arrested for terrorist activities. She added that the suspects led the security team to two uncompleted buildings where arms were purportedly buried.

Senator  David Mark
The breakaway faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the presidency of hatching a plot to impeach Senate President David Mark and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, for having the temerity to grant audience to the seven governors of the faction and its executive committee led by Alhaji Abubakar Baraje.
The seven aggrieved governors and other members of the New PDP had visited both chambers of the National Assembly on Tuesday, leading to a brawl in the House of Representatives.
The Baraje group also described the plot to impeach the principal officers of the National Assembly as “politics taken too far”.
But the allegation by the New PDP has been dismissed by the lower chamber, which said there was no truth in the speculation that some members were being sponsored by external forces to impeach Tambuwal and other principal officers of the House.

SSS Battles Boko Haram Suspects In Abuja

Conflicting reports have continued to trail an attack by security operatives on an uncompleted building behind the Apo legislative quarters in Abuja in the early hours of today.
While a statement by the State Security Services (SSS) says that some suspected sect members have been injured and twelve others injured, eye witness accounts say about 8 people may have been killed.
The SSS says violence erupted after the alleged sect members opened fire on a combined security team which had gone on an operation behind the Apo legislative quarters in Abuja.
The statement issued by the Deputy director, public relations department of state services, Marilyn Ogar says  the operation was sequel to information obtained from two suspected Boko Haram members, Kamal Abdullahi and Mohammed Adamu, who had earlier been arrested for terrorist activities.
The statement adds that the suspects led the security team to uncompleted buildings where arms were purported to have been buried underground.

Forbes: Jay Z And Beyonce Top Our List Of The Highest-Earning Celebrity Couples

beyonce jay z

Jay Z and Beyonce Knowles are so much more than just the first couple of hip-hop: They’re a combination of two of the savviest businesspeople in entertainment. They made more than any other celebrity couple this year with an estimated $95 million in earnings between June 2012 and June 2013.

Another COZA church member, Japheth Omojuwa has written yet another robust letter to the Abuja based pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo asking him vital questions that he needs to answer urgently over his love affair with his female church members, especially Ese Walters.

ESE WALTER

These are questions for the real man in pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo to answer:
"Did he do what Ese Walter accused him of doing? When she came back to Nigeria and asked that he needed to step away from the pulpit, did he meet up with her, even tried to kiss her again and later called her to say he forgot something in her car after he left? Did the thing he forgot turn out to be N500,000 cash! Was this part of his personal earnings in church or was it part of the church’s income? Did they meet at another hotel – not in England – where he tried to pay for his own accommodation and had his cash refused because the hotel wouldn’t take cash so Ese had to pay with her card? Does he use an aphrodisiac perfume? Is that for the fun of it or for some kind of fun? Did he insist Ese Walter stay back in London after she came back to Nigeria defying his earlier demand? Ese Walter might have held back many details in her blog because no one gets to write it all on matters like that, but will the real man please stand up and say something? Oh, and our ultra-super-religious-and-spiritual-we-are-all-clean society has crucified Ese Walter, making sure others like her never dare come out to cast other pastors again. And trust me, there are other named ones. You see, we think we are a free people but we are not.

Ribadu- Ibori gave me $15m bribe in bag

Nuhu Ribadu

Desperate to halt a probe into his finances, former Delta State Governor James Ibori tried to bribe anti-corruption boss Nuhu Ribadu in 2007 with $15m in cash in a bag so heavy one man alone could not lift it, Ribadu told a London court on Thursday.
Reuters quoted Ribadu as telling the court that he pretended to take the bribe because he wanted the cash as evidence to use against Ibori in a prosecution, but rather than keep the money for himself he had it taken straight to the Central Bank of Nigeria to be kept safe in a vault.

Court Rules on Who Gets Ibori’s $15 million Today

Ibori

A Federal High Court in Abuja will today determine whether the $15 million allegedly abandoned by a former Delta State governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, should be forfeited to the federal government or given back to the state government.
The money was said to have been offered to a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, as bribe in order to compromise the investigation of an alleged fraud by Ibori.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole, who heard the matter, had at the last hearing said he would deliver judgment today.
The verdict would also put to rest claims and counter-claim being laid on the money by several interest groups and individuals.
