Adeboye urges prayers against calamities

THE General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adejare Adeboye, has called on Nigerians to pray against calamities in the nation, noting that all the recent bad happenings were not the will of God.
And from the new Prelate, Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, has come admonition that politicians should eschew corruption and embrace love, integrity and probity to turn the nation around.

Speaking during the weekend at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Headquarters, Ebute-Metta, where he prayed for civil servants, Adeboye said God is merciful and when a nation turns to Him in penitence, He would surely hear and repent of any evil He may want to bring upon the nation as a result of the sins of the people.

“The recent and latest plane crash and the killings of innocent children in school while they were sleeping were not the will of God at all. The nation should pray for God’s mercy and peace to return,” he said.

Adeboye admonished civil servants to work with conscience, be diligent and realise that God is a faithful rewarder of those that are honest in all they do. “It is a general knowledge that one would receive commendation when everything is going on well while serving man, but as soon as that fellow makes a mistake, they would turn against him.

“So, let the fear of God be in you in the course of your service and God who does not fail to reward diligence would certainly reward you”, he said.

Also speaking at the service, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, urged operators in the aviation sector to be more diligent and proactive and take their job seriously because any little mistake on their part would claim lives.

Addressing the media after his investiture at the Methodist Church of the Trinity, Tinubu, Lagos, Uche, who said his prayer for Nigeria would centre on political stability, social harmony and economic buoyancy, lamented that political thuggery was sown by disgruntled politicians.

“If our politicians can change and create employment for the teeming unemployed, there would be peace in the nation,” he said.

The prelate, who noted that the riches of the nation are being cornered by a few citizens, urged Nigerians to love God and trust Him so that there would be peace, security sand happiness in the nation.
